“you can’t expect to live by rules” Batya said the quote, pg 48, Escaping into the night
This is saying that Hitler made rules for Jews to drive them out of Germany. I thought that was really just to make a fool of them. Even though the Jews’ only option to live was to break the rules by escaping one of the camps or the ghetto. It’s was really hard for them to escape the camps. If they did they’d struggle to to survive by having to get their own food in the forest. The rules that were being made were just not fully thought out so that shows Nazi’s didn't treat Jews like humans they were treated like animals. Also they were making rules to just force the Jews out, but as time went on things got worst. Nazi’s moved Jews in small apartments with 2 families. Then Nazi’s took Jews who could work to camps and killed some Jews.
This connects to North Korea’s Pleasure group. Every September in North Korea Kim Jong-un pick 50 girls who just turned 18 and graduated from high school. The girl don’t want to do it but they have to do that. That's just like Jews because they got treated hard and was forced to do something they don’t like. Also the girls in the Holocaust were raped by men in concentration camps with them. According to http://www.wunrn.com/news/2012/04_12/04_23/042312_holocaust.htm.The women also didn't like it but really couldn't do anything because they were not liked, but in North Korea if you're leader chose you, you had to do it.
And the Japanese did a simlar thing during WWII when they took Korean and Chinese women and shipped them throughout Japan's conquered lands to act as "Pleasure Women".

There are even more countries that are treating women badly. More women are trying to stand up for their rights, but at great cost of lives.
ReplyDeleteI think that no person in the world should be treated like animals. No matter what their race is or if they belong to a minority group in the world. I can't believe someone can be so cruel to kill and force people to work just because they don't like them. I think everybody has their own rights that everybody has to respect. Like no women should be raped. It's their own body not just "something" that will be use for pleasure just because somebody says so. In many genocides that I have learned from most of them happened during of after WWI and WWII. Many dictatorships took advantage of "their" people. That is just not fair.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that the Jews were being treated like animals. If the Jews did escape then they were like runaway animals with nothing. It's like the Germans were kicking out an animal that had rabies and looked at them with so much disgust. I also liked your connection with Kim Jong-Un. Both him and the Germans picked the ones they thought were good enough for something. In some ways the Nazis and Kim Jong-Un are similar, for the example up above and they were feared. I think that some (not all) from North Korea are scared to try and stand up for themselves seeing that he can have them killed so quickly. Also the people that were chosen both had to do it without wanting to. The whole choosing people by force is sick and mental. In no way should someone have to do anything by force.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the fact that they were trying to humiliate them. I say this because the Germans at the time had thought that they were the superior race and were above the Jews. Along with this Kim Jong-Un still to this day treats his people as if they are inferior to him. Like you had said before he treats the women in his country very poorly and prefers them as "objects", not people. The sad fact is that if anyone tried rebel against him he would more than likely have them executed, same as the Nazi's. This is my personal opinion.
ReplyDeleteI honestly liked how you compared this situation to other things. i agree with how you said that the Jews were treated like animals by the Germans. I personally hate that they did that and it as the worst thing they would've ever done. They were treated with disrespect and definitely not like humans like they are. A suggestion that i have for this part would be to add more detail on how they were treating them. What did they do? i understand that they were treated like animals, but if you add more detail that would make it better. I also agree on what you said on the second sentence on how they were making fools out of them. Although i would like to make another suggestion again that you should also again add more detail on that statement. Like what were they doing to them that made them look like fools. I also like how u compared the girls being abused and raped with what happened with the North Korean situation. Girls shouldn't be doing things they don’t want to do by force. I think it sad that they had to live like that including where their houses were, in the ghetto and in small apartments. I think the worst part would be having to be in the camps. You stated that they would try to escape the camps and i know that was not easy and i can’t imagine the horrible consequences that they were given if they failed. Choosing whether to try and escape was a life or death risk for the Jews.
