In her diary, Anne Frank wrote that she believed “most people are good”. Do you agree with Anne? If so, why, and if not, why not?
I don’t agree with Anne because if most people were good the Holocaust wouldn’t have happened. There are a lot of people that are bad. For example, I read a story called “The Ball” and it was about a boy who wasn’t Jewish and his friend who was Jewish. The Jewish boy was standing by a shop and the other boy was playing with a ball and he threw the ball and the ball hit the window shop and broke it, and the other boy was blamed for it because he was a Jew. Well if most people were good, somebody would have stood up for that boy that didn’t even do anything and it wasn’t even his ball. Another reason that makes me not agree with Anne is how the Nazis treated Jews. If most people were good then, why didn’t more people stand up for Jews who were treated unfairly because of others thinking Jewish is a race, which isn’t true because it is a religion not a race. Finally I don’t agree with Anne that most people are good because many people didn’t stand up for Jews. If most people were good, some of Nazis would have stood up for the Jews, instead they were against them which is anti-semitism. Why do you think more people didn’t stand up against the Nazis?
I think that the some Nazis wanted to stand up to the Jews but could not because they could have been murdered. I do agree on how you said ¨If most people were good then, why didn't more people stand up for Jews.¨ because it is true. A lot of people were just bystanders or went along with what the Nazis said.
